Anyone remotely familiar with oriental rugs could hardly mistake a typical example. The classic Baluch rug is relatively thin loose fabric with a wool pile in a wool or cotton foundation that frequently contain some goat hair the side are usually formed of multiple selvage of dark goat hair. Sizes are small and relatively narrow. Colors are in deep blues, black, brown, rust red with occasional sites of yellow, orange, green and white for outlining. Designs resemble that of Turkumans or medallion like arranged diagonally across the field with very little variation in color.
